A Monthly Newsletter by Emanuela Little
Bella Casa Interiors
First of all, I want to say WELCOME to our very first Design in Real Life Newsletter! This is an idea that has been brewing in my brain for a long time…a way to connect you all to what is happening in the design world around us, but also to what we are working on, what (or who) is inspiring us, and introducing you to the amazing local businesses that I love to support.
We hope to send you lots of juicy little design tidbits to motivate some décor brilliance (yes, that IS a thing!) and most of all, to connect with you on a more consistent basis! You can look for a monthly newsletter, along with a blog post a couple of weeks later where we do more of a deep dive into a design theme or show you around our latest finished project. We have so many good things to share with you and we are beyond excited to do so!
Now I should mention that only place you will find this Monthly Newsletter is right here...in your inbox! It is only available to our subscribers so it will not be accessible on our website. If you see something you like, be sure to save the email for future reference! Let's jump right in...
What we’ve been up to:
Despite the current Lockdown measures in our area of Ontario, many people have been inquiring regarding design services and we have had several Virtual Consultations already this month so far! Layout designs, design direction for future renovations, and styling options for a teen bedroom have kept me busy bringing clients help during a time when we might as well make #homeasyourhaven.
One recent project that I wanted to show you was a Style My Space E-Design Service where the client needed some help choosing furniture pieces for her home office. It was pretty much a white box with a desk in it on the lower level of her home where she was able to have a dedicated space for her zoom meetings and client work. She loved white, but also wanted to bring in some bold color and, as with most of us, also needed a zone where her young children could also hang out while she worked.
She wanted to use her favorite color (turquoise) and was willing to use wallpaper...as long as it wasn’t too feminine. So, we created three different options that used her preferred colors, along with pops of yellow and warm wood to add in natural elements that she loved. We worked to fit in as many pieces as we could within her budget and gave her a list of each and every item we suggested, so she could shop on her own and complete this room on her own timeline. She was thrilled! We always work to exceed a client’s expectations and she said this gave her the design direction she was looking for…and then some!
One design direction that I have seen really making a comeback is Arches. Arched openings, arched mirrors, arched windows, and arched cabinets. Everything curved is new again, and the soft rounded shapes are really a great way to soften a space. Here are just a few examples of some gorgeous spaces to inspire you!
Small Biz Highlight:
I love, love, love to support the small businesses in our area and Petrichor Vintage Rugs is a local supplier of vintage rugs that I drool over on a consistent basis! If you have been around here for a while, you know that I totally dig vintage finds and am always on the lookout for new places. Candice has rug drops when she gets new stock and they often get scooped up really quickly. The sizes, the patterns, the colors all add so much character and personality to a room in a way that a new rug just...doesn't! So, if you are in the market for a new rug, skip the huge online big box option and take a look at her offerings--I am sure you will be hooked too!
On the Blog:
With so many of us back at home for a few weeks, you may be wanting to spruce some things up around your house and I have a blog post to help you do just that! 10 Free Ideas to Decorate your Home offers SO many budget friendly ideas. You may already have some of these items at home-how handy is that?!?! Get some new inspiration and maybe you can refresh your space this weekend.
COMING UP: On the social channels I gave you a sneak peak of a Master Bedroom and Ensuite bathroom that we had photographed late in the Fall. In our next post you will get the full tour of these two Zen Spaces, and I am twitching with excitement to show them to you (for reals)! I had been waiting to tackle this design project literally for years…so to see the finished space gives me goosebumps! (And it helps that the amazing Pam at Ten West Photography took these impeccable shots—she is amazing at capturing all the details). Check your inbox in a couple of weeks to see our newest Project Reveal.
What’s inspiring me:
I came across this image on Instagram by @m_interiors_tx and I just love everything about it so I wanted to share it with you!
What do I like about it?
- The oversized gallery wall just draws me and makes me want to look at each and every image (perfect for ALL those phone shots we have of our kids that we’d love to display).
- I love the blue and white ginger jars (no surprise there)!
- I love the texture of the brick wall paired with the limestone flooring and mixed with the elegant furnishings.
- The gold frames just pop and the fact that the images are a classic black and white make this feature truly timeless.
I can think of all sorts of places that this type of feature would look AH-mazing…can you?
