Dundurn Main Floor Renovation

Retro vibes abound in our Dundurn Main Floor Renovation Project as we transformed a dated century home into one that reflects the vibrant personality of the family that lives there. Using our Designer by your Side Services, these homeowners tapped into our expertise, while managing most of the renovation on their own with Gregory Moore of  Moorebuild General Contractor.

The Kitchen lacked storage, so we worked closely with The Wright Kitchen in Ancaster to find the best layout options and to maximize the footprint we had to work with. To keep a cohesive design, we paneled the refrigerator and dishwasher, extended cabinetry to the ceiling, and added in a much-needed pantry. Penny Round tile from Centura tied in the gorgeous copper sink and richly veined quartz counters and added that hit of fun.

In the living room and dining space, we found that the traditional layout didn’t offer our client the opportunity for extra seating, so we put the eating area at the front of the house & added in a custom sectional from Lofty Ambitions in what was the dining space. This switch really maximized the layout and allowed them to entertain larger groups.

New Hardwood flooring brings cohesive flow to this Dundurn main floor renovation, with a jolt of animal print in the foyer staircase—showcasing the owner’s personality right when you walk in the door! A beautiful vintage rug from Wovenkin Home graces the kitchen and adds that bit of old to a modern space. Custom drapery disguises off centered windows, and the furniture was also custom designed to fit perfectly within the small rooms.

The basement bathroom also received a huge facelift with new flooring & all new bathroom fixtures (including a shower with a door!) supplied by Barton Bath. Local art shows city pride and ties in the accent colors for a cheery vibe. You’d never guess this bathroom was in the basement!

The transformation of our Dundurn Main Floor Renovation is one the homeowners wanted to share with others…and they got their wish as this project was featured in the Feb/Mar issue of Reno and Decor Magazine. Here is what they had to say in working with Bella Casa Interiors:

“We really enjoyed working with Emanuela, and the results of our collaboration were fantastic. This was our first big reno, and Emanuela gave us just the right amount of guidance to ensure we had confidence to move forward. Emanuela was always there with a new idea (often something we had never even thought of but was PERFECT) and connections to terrific local furniture, drapery, and other vendors.

She was also reliably there with enthusiasm and when the renovation was at its peak and stress was high (as it is when one is eating out of a slow cooker nightly while the kitchen is re-done), Emanuela cheered us on with positive words and celebrated all the small successes along the way. I truly do not think we could have done our renovations without her. We are beyond thrilled and, when we are ready, she will be the first one we call before starting on our next project.

Some people may think that hiring a designer is a luxury, but it really isn't. It saves my partner and I so much time in so many ways (from ideas to sourcing to process) and it ensured we kept our sanity (and marriage! ha!) along the way. Thank you, Bella Casa!
