“Rustic Modern” was our focus and guided the process of design & décor throughout every room of this Hannon home. Together with clean lines & classic style, top of the wish list was maximum comfort, plenty of seating for frequent entertaining, and finishes that were easy to maintain.

Almost the entire main floor of this home needed to be addressed, with the kitchen being the biggest project of all. Dated oak cabinets were ripped out and the new layout was discussed extensively to maximize storage and create a space that worked for the family of five as well as large groups. One of the hardest decisions the homeowner had to make was to let go of a separate dining table…we ultimately decided the large island could be used for everyday meals, as well as the perfect perching place for when the home was filled with guests. The stairway to the loft needed to be rebuilt, and a doorway to the dining room was added, increasing the functionality exponentially.

The dining room had to function for every day as well as the many entertaining events this family loves to host. We decided early on to add in the feature fireplace, keeping the lines clean & adding rustic modern texture with the brick. The overhead loft was extended, which allowed for a chandelier to be placed over the table. Keeping the large window clear was also important, so we created a balcony-like effect which allowed light to continue to pour into both the loft and dining spaces. A much larger table was added, and the vintage pieces that were given to the homeowners as a wedding gift remained and add character to the room.

The great room also received a makeover with all new flooring and furniture. As this room sits over a sound studio, carpeting was a must with the homeowner just to control the level of sound. The furniture had to be comfortable, durable & stylish without breaking the bank. With three teenage boys and their friends to consider, a lot of thought was put into the color and layout of this space. We came up with a way to incorporate tile, wood and carpet to maximize practicality, warmth, and comfort in every room of this main floor. Now the homeowners love their rustic modern Hannon home…and so does everyone else that visits!
